Variety: Tempranillo Merlot

Alcohol by volume: 13.5%

Year: 2010

Region: Navarra

The region

Navarra is an exciting region sandwiched between Rioja in the south and the French border to the northeast. This 'land of diversity' enjoys an ever-changing landscape; from the foothills of the Pyrenees in the north, to the lush banks of the river Ebro in the south, the terrain is ever-changing.

With Rioja and Bordeaux as neighbours it is no surprise that Navarra has a heritage of great wine-making from its five sub-regions; each producing its own distinctive wines influenced by the different climate and soil.

The wine

This wine exudes freshness, youth and purity. Vibrant aromas of sweet berries with floral tones followed by smooth and well-rounded flavours and hits of cherry sweetness. There is a nice amount of tannin and the overall structure is satisfyingly balanced.

This is a real crowd-pleaser that would pair well with a variety of food and is not too challenging on the palate. A safe choice for those looking for an easy-drinking wine with all round appeal.

Rating: 7.5/10 (info on scoring system)
