Calle Alamos 16,
29012 Malaga,

La Taperia is situated on Calle Alamos, a short walk from the city centre in Malaga. This great little venue is well worth a visit if you are bar-hopping your way round the city or you may just be tempted to grab a seat at the bar and spend the whole evening soaking up the atmosphere.

La Taperia is small but clean and cosy with traditional decor. The work top is adorned with fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs that will find their way into the tapas dishes that you order. The superb service is provided by Manuel, who is a friendly and attentive despite being permanently on the move! pulpo

On our recent visit we grabbed a couple of stools at the bar and ordered a bottle of El Lagar de Cabrera, a local red wine from the Sierras de Málaga. As with anywhere in Spain, I always seek out the local wine where possible, it just makes sense to taste wine that expresses the character of the region. The wine was outstanding and we just needed some food to match.taperia-bar

Manuel recommended the Pulpo Frita (Fried Octopus) from the specials board and we ordered without hesitation. We were soon presented with a wonderfully cooked octopus and a pair of scissors to chop away at the perfectly tender flesh! Other tapas dishes soon followed - black tomatoes that had sat temptingly on the bar in front of us were squeezed for ripeness before being cut, dressed and plated-up for our pleasure. More wine flowed as mushrooms were fried, lettuce was grilled and herbs were chopped. Bread, olives and jamon made an appearance as did some cherry tomatoes and tuna while still more wine flowed...

La Taperia is a great bar with excellent service. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting and the food is simple and fresh. If you are not sure what to order just let Manuel be your guide - you will not be disappointed.
